This Sunday (11 December 2005, midday GMT) we will start testing the new X-Kings software release that will be used for the next Age ... all players that have an account ranked from #1 to #1,000 in the main game (as of 8am GMT of Saturday 10 December 2005) will get an account in the X-Kings Beta Game and get a chance to test the new software!
A few other people (our forum moderator, the translators etc) will get a complimentary account too.
The Beta Game is to run on a separate server (the URL will be posted on Sunday 11 December). The main game will continue running as usual.
If you are not ranked from #1 to #1,000, do not worry as the new software will go live next age (once finished and tested!) so you'll have months to play with it once it has been released for everyone
At the beginning the game on the Beta Game will look very much like the current game, with the great difference that the software has been completely re-engineered and can now run in multiple languages!
On Sunday we will start testing the English and Italian versions of the game; this should already provide a basic test of the multi-language system!
More languages will follow in the next weeks; we have planned translations in a few widespread European languages to assess how popular and successfull the translations are going to be. I'm not sure when those will be ready to go live but we hope around Christmas.
While the testing phase is expected to mostly consist of testing the multi-language system, we are also expecting to start making some small enhancements to the game in general!
